Three women hurt as car ploughs into two shops
PEDESTRIANS were forced to flee to safety yesterday after a car ploughed into two shops in Glasgow city centre at about 9am yesterday.
Three women were injured when the Toyota Yaris crashed into the side of the Littlewoods store in Cambridge Street.
Witnesses said the vehicle then reversed in a semicircle into the Greggs bakery shop next door.
The car came to rest at the front doorway of Greggs, its front pointing outwards. The entire glass panel at the front of the shop had been smashed and part of the frame damaged.
The women were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, but their injuries were not thought to be serious.
Police were speaking to the 56-year-old female driver of the car, who was not injured. No-one else was in the car at the time.
