FIREFIGHTERS hit out at the "mindless" abuse hurled at them by youths as they tried to bring a school fire under control.
Crews in Glasgow last night came under attack as they fought a blaze at Old Littlehill School in Craighead Road, Blackhill. Strathclyde Fire and Rescue service said their efforts were hampered by youths throwing stones in their direction.

One vehicle was damaged by the youths. Garry Milne, incident commander, said: "It's extremely disappointing that firefighters carrying out their duties in such arduous conditions are being subjected to such mindless physical and verbal abuse."
