Female pipers call the tune

FEMALE pipers will have a dedicated showcase concert at Glasgow's annual international piping festival for the first time.
Northumbrian star Kathryn Tickell will top the bill at the new "Girls and Gracenotes" event planned for Piping Live! in August.

The festival, organised to coincide with the annual World Pipe Band Championships, will celebrate its fifth birthday this year.
