TODAY is both St George's Day, when the English are supposed to remember their patron saint, and (traditionally) Shakespeare's birthday.
Actually, all we know for sure is that Will was baptised on 26 April, 1564. Giving him St George's Day as his official birthday was a whimsical 18th century innovation, which also makes a pleasing symmetry with the Bard's death, on 23 April, 1616. I ...
