FIRST the good news. For the very first time, the Bush administration has agreed to a target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. On Tuesday, at the G8 summit in Japan, America joined the other industrial nations in agreeing to "consider and adopt a goal of achieving at least 50 per cent reduction of global emissions by 2050. Praise the Lord. Mind you, George Bush is on his way out so he doesn't actually have to do anything about meeting the target. By 2050, he'll be 104.
Now for the small print and the bad news. The 50 per cent cut is from current levels – not the 1990 level used in the Kyoto Protocol. Already US emissions are up by about a fifth on 1990. However, global energy demand is rocketing and will be at lea...

Here's even better news are certainly simpler maths. The planet stopped warming 10 years ago despite our increased emissions. Last year's global cooling more than offset last century's warming.

It's not global warming we should be worried about. At least not today. What should be scaring the pants off us is the prospect of already paying over £500 to fill our central heating oil tank with 1000 litres of oil and the fact that the chances of the oil price hitting $200 in the next year is now quite likely.

We are paying now for the fraud that Al Gore and Bill Clinton perpetrated when they repealed the Glass-Steagall act on the same day that Al met with Citi and JP Morgan reps to "invent" carbon credits/tax.

The commodity brokers have driven up the price of oil to help cover the massive debts created by this relaxation of the checks and balances the Glass-Steagall act set in place in the aftermath of the great depression.

The longer that oil prices can be held high the softer the bump when the economy hits bottom.

Forget the alarmist views that CO2 is anything but beneficial. The centuries of coal that remain, and the vast reserves of oil, will ensure that CO2 levels rise out of the current "dangerously low" to the beneficial 2000 ppmv levels that exist in our front rooms when we get together with friends and are the desired level in most greenhouses - hence all the bottled CO2 one can purchase.

The lies about acidity in the ocean (the white cliffs of Dover are proof of that) and "the greenhouse effect" and CO2 "pollution" are shedding wheels at an increasing rate.

The real danger to humanity and the advancement of science are the lies of "peak oil", "too many people" and "human created climate change".

"Fossil" fuel is just another step on the ladder of human achievement.

More drivel from Kerevan! For example:
"....everyone knows that greenhouse gas emissions are still increasing and will hit the red line for runaway global warming by circa 2050. Everyone knows we need to set a target for reducing."
These claims about "everyone" is simply NOT true. What in the name of all things sane does he mean by "will hit the red line for runaway global warming by circa 2050."? Has be missed the FACT that global warming stopped after the peak year 1998? And that "global warming" has morphed into "climate change" in order to try to hide that fact and to enable the ecomentalist alarmists to continue their campaign of fear induced madness??
The sooner Mr Kerevan gets elected as an SNP MSP the better - then he will be amongst like minded climate and energy strategy illiterates!!
