THEY say a change can be as good as a rest. And this seems to be the case for the venerable Scottish Championship, arguably one of the world's oldest continuous chess event, having being first held in 1884.
The 115th edition got underway at the weekend at Glasgow Academy, and will run 5-13 July. But unlike other years, there has been a big change to the format for the better by turning it into an International Open.
