A NEW training and research charity has been set up to help develop Scotland's salmon farming industry.
The Scottish Salmon Education and Research Foundation, a registered charity, aims to improve career opportunities in the industry by providing training for people working in every stage in the production and sale of farmed salmon. According to the Scottish Salmon Producers' Organisation (SSPO), it will also enhance environmental performance on salmon farms and help research and development of new production methods.

The foundation is expected to start awarding grants early next year.
