BONFIRE Night went off with a bang as thousands of people packed into Meadowbank to enjoy a spectacular fireworks show.
A crowd of more than 5000 packed into the stadium where they were entertained by stilt-walkers and clowns before the main event.
Seven-year-old Chloe Hampton was plucked out of the crowd to flick the switch which started the display.
The Burdiehouse Primary pupil was at the event with her mum Christine MacKay.
Edinburgh Leisure spokesman Michael Pinkerton said he felt it had been the best show yet.
He said: "It was another sell-out which shows that this is something which is really popular with local families,
"Even on a cold night it was good to see so many people come out for what was a great show.
"A lot of praise has to go to the team here at Meadowbank who have done an incredible job putting on such a great event, and I think this was probably the best yet.
"There were no problems, it looks like everyone had a great time and I think it proves that this is the best place in Edinburgh to come and watch a fireworks show."

In Wester Hailes and Sighthill, council workers from the recently established neighbourhood partnerships organised two large bonfires for locals to enjoy.
The initiative was a pilot project aimed at cutting down the number of minor illegal bonfires the fire brigade are called out to every year, and saw council workers clearing away any wood or rubbish which was stored for illegal bonfires and adding them to the official fires.
If the project proves to have been a success the fire brigade hopes the initiative can be introduced to areas across Edinburgh next year.
Unlike other years, the weather was kind. It was dry but there was an autumnal crispness to the air.
The crowd was warmed-up before the display even got underway with a sing-a-long of The Proclaimers' classic 500 Miles.
The colourful 25-minute display was accompanied by a mixture of classical and pop music.
