A COLLECTION of works by the man dubbed "the world's worst poet" is expected to fetch up to £6500 when it goes under the hammer in the Capital today.
William McGonagall, born in 1825, was a weaver in Dundee who turned his hand to poetry but gained the unwanted label for his uninspiring verse.

A collection of 35 of his poems will be auctioned by Lyon and Turnbull in Edinburgh today.

McGonagall's topics include the Tay Bridge disaster of 1879.
