THE BBC is rumoured to be ready to pay David Tennant a massive £1.3 million to carry on as Doctor Who.
The Bathgate-born actor is expected to be offered a new deal worth up to £100,000 per episode.

And he could also be offered other drama projects in a bid to keep him on board.

BBC bosses are desperate to stop the 37-year-old from quitting the show, which attracts up to eight million viewers.

One senior BBC source was quoted saying: "Everyone assumes David is quitting but that's not the case. We're hoping he will be back.

"The situation as it stands is that no deal has been discussed yet for the next series of Doctor Who. That, however, is about to change.

"David is brilliant in the role and naturally we hope he will continue. We're not considering anyone else at this time."

Tennant said: "I've been asked when I'm quitting since the first day I took the part. I've not quit – I've just not been offered another deal yet."

I still think they should let him go and have the Duke of Edinburgh become Doctor Who.

They should offer him a damn sight more than they pay for those non-talents Wogan and Ross. David Tennant has saved the BBC on Saturday nights more than anyone else. He's worth it!

Long may his reign as the Doctor continue!

YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!

David Tennant HAS to stay as the Doctor - he's BRILLIANT!!!!

Tom Baker was always my fave rave and David Tennant came in a very close second but I have to say I think he's actually overtaken Mr Baker in my ratings now. He's got exactly the right amount of eccentricity for the role - the man's a genius and yes - he's worth a darned sight more than that - just as BW says.

Thank God the BBC appears to recognize a miracle when they see it! David Tennant has breathed more life into the Doctor Who series than anyone ever has before. You go, David! The idea that he could also star in other projects is even more wonderful! I hope it all works out!!

Must say will be disappointed if David leaves as Doctor Who,he has been a new breath for the programme and has made each story a one to remember he is funny as well as serious when called upon, he has brought out different qualities in each of his assistants and he isn't boring in the slightest. May he remain as the Doctor for many more series to come.

How could they change the doctor when we just got rose back! Fans want to see the relationship taken to the next level not get all weird again due to him changing. Pay him whatever he wants just keep him in other wise we won't be able to see his hunky fack on the tvs here in the us any longer its bad enough if is want to see whats currently happening on doctor who I have to watch it on youtube. Now we might be losing the greatest actor of our time to leave and do something that they'll never pay here. GOd this country is goin right down himm. Soon we'll end up with a democrat president that is bunk, then we'll be paying twice as much for gas as we are now as if $4.35 a gallon isn't enough, then we will lose david tennent on our show. This must stop. David MUST stay on. And i must say I hate not living in europe. Leave on a positive note I always say though. So aren't the noe screen savers from the doctor who website cool at least!?!

David Tennant is FANTASTIC as the Dr. I watched the previous series of Dr Who when I was young and I now watch this one with my son who is now a confirmed Dr Who fan as well. We both think that David is the best Dr by far. It would be devistating to so many fans if he left. The BBC should give this very TALENTED man what he wants to entice him to stay. We look forward to seeing more seasons of Dr Who with David as the DR.
