CARLA Bruni's new album has has gone to No 3 in the French album charts a week after its release.
Comme si de rien n'était (As if nothing happened) by the wife of the French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, was beaten only by Coldplay and the French pop singer Laurent Voulzy.

Bruni's record label, Naive, said her third album had sold more than 14,000 copies in its first two days.

Even before it came out in France on 11 July, half a million people had logged on to her website to hear a preview.

In the 14 tracks, the former supermodel-turned-singer sings of her love for her husband. In L'Amoureuse, she sings, "And the noise of love's pain slowly recedes/And the sound of the past is silenced/The streets are gardens/I'm dancing on the pavements".

Bruni's share of the proceeds are going to charity.
