A TEACHER who is walking barefoot to London to raise awareness of the political situation in Burma has covered 140 miles.
Ewen Hardie, 28, a biology teacher at Drummond Community High School in Bellevue Place, is making his way to Westminster to campaign about the Burmese people’s plight.
He set out on June 25 with only the five items the charity 5 Alive sends out to help families in Burma – rice and salt, a cooking pot, a lighter, a machete (in his case a penknife) and a tarpaulin.
He has taken no money with him but has been given food and shelter along the way by people backing his demonstration. Edinburgh MPs Gavin Strang and Mark Lazarowicz will meet him in London on August 8.
