STUDENTS from Telford College were due to graduate today at a ceremony in Edinburgh.
Amongst those set to receive their degrees were a handful who were due to receive special awards for dedication to their studies.
The college decided to give awards to dance student Jacqueline Liddell, who has conquered the chronic sleep disorder narcolepsy, and Polish student Maria Nowacka, who has overcome language barriers.
Catering student Stewart Craigie, who worked part-time for a Michelin star restaurant in Edinburgh, sports coaching student Claire Weir, who spends much of her spare time coaching children within her community, and former painting and decorating student Mark Nevin, who took top honours at the 2009 WorldSkills competition in Canada, were also to be honoured.
Greg Irving, Telford College's depute principal, said: "What these students have achieved is truly remarkable and they should be extremely proud of what they've accomplished whilst studying at Edinburgh's Telford College."
