A TOTAL of nine Edinburgh schools are set to take part in the annual Stock Market Challenge.
Third-year pupils will get the chance to experience the excitement of dealing on a live trading floor at the annual event, which will take place in South Hall, Pollock Halls, at Edinburgh University, on 19 November.
Twenty five schools from across south-east Scotland will take part in the challenge, which is the first of five across the country. Working in small teams, the pupils will use their skills to manage a portfolio of shares and foreign currency.
Chief executive of Skills Development Scotland, Damien Yeates, said: "Stock Market Challenge is a great way to allow young people to experience first hand how the markets operate."
Pupils from Broughton High, Firrhill High, Forrester High, George Heriot's School, James Gillespie's High, Leith Academy Community High, Liberton High, Queensferry Community High and Stewart's Melville College will take part in the challenge.
