NAPIER University has sold off its Marchmont campus in a £1.7 million deal.
The site, home to the photography department, will now be leased by the university until the redevelopment of its Sighthill Campus is completed in 2010/11.

Napier bosses also confirmed they were "reviewing a number of options" regarding the future of the university's Craighouse campus in Morningside.

A university spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that we have sold our Marchmont campus as part of our £100m estates strategy.

"The university has no immediate plans to sell Craighouse, which remains a central part of our estate."

Oh! Oh! Not another university residence, I hope.

Is it not time for the City and the Universities did something to benefit Marchmont, which is just about the only sizeable community in Edinburgh without an Arts/Community/Education Centre.

A great opportunity for the universities to pay something back! Why not a break-through facility for both groups within the community, to enable students and other residents to meet and work together for mutual pleasure and benefit.
