Chimps get a new place to hang around
A RESIDENT of Edinburgh Zoo's recently-opened chimp enclosure has a rest after tackling a new climbing frame.
The largest climbing frame built for apes, the structure is the latest edition to the Budongo Trail, which opened last month.
Eleven chimpanzees have now settled into their new surroundings, which is the largest enclosure of its kind in the world.
Gary Wilson, head of property and estates for the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, said: "The whole project has been a massive undertaking for us. We invested £5.65 million to create a world-class chimpanzee enclosure with enormous internal and external areas.
"We also spent £35,000 on exotic vegetation."
