EDINBURGH rugby centre Matt Dey has undergone surgery in a bid to clear up a long-term shoulder problem.
The 27-year-old, who has been allocated to Hawick next season on the club roster after spells with Stewart's/Melville and Heriot's, returned from helping Scotland A to the Barclays Churchill Cup Final in North America and went straight under the knif

Edinburgh's website states: "Matt stepped straight off the plane and into the surgeon's office to repair a damaged shoulder putting him out for the start of the 2008-09 season."
Hopes are high, though, that the treatment will finally put an end to injury troubles that have dogged a player whose best years might still lie ahead.
Last season Dey was restricted to a handful of Edinburgh appearances although he did add to his total of 12 Heineken European Cup appearances while playing a part from off the bench in the 19-18 victory at Neath/Swansea Ospreys.
Meanwhile, former Edinburgh mentor Ian Rankin will represent Scottish Rugby at a Six Nations coach development conference in Rome next week.
Rankin, now assisting Dundee High in the Premiership, will learn first hand about new law variations due to come into force at the start of next season.
