ORGANISERS of the Edinburgh International Festival were today set to launch this year’s programme in Sarajevo – the first time a launch has been held outside the UK.
The programme for this year’s event was revealed last week, and features a strong international line-up as part of its theme of Artistes Without Borders.

One of the major productions is a staging of Nigel Williams’ play Class Enemy, by the East West Theatre Company, which re-stages the action in Sarajevo.

Joanna Baker, Festival managing director, said: “‘The East West Theatre Company is an exciting and vibrant young voice in Europe.

“The Festival is proud to include them in its 2008 programme. It is also a huge honour to come to Sarajevo to launch the Festival programme. Festivals can play an important role in developing political and cultural discourse.”

The Edinburgh International Festival will run from August 8 to 31, and more details can be found online at: www.eif.co.uk.
