A HAIRDRESSER and a Princes Street bank have lost their battle to keep their signs outside their businesses after councillors ruled they should be taken down.
The firms fell foul of city officials who said the signs broke planning rules. They recommended Kenneth Lynch should be told to remove timber and metal signs from his A-listed salon in the New Town following a complaint. Banking giant HSBC wa also called to account over "excessive" signs that cause a "visual clutter".

What about the Ambassador Sauna sign and black painted building at 91 Lothian Road. Do the councillors and planners find the sign acceptable for a World Heritage Sight?

#1. I dont think that Kenneth Kim quite comes in to the same league as HSBC and after ten years why should they, the planners, get the right to retrospective planning rulings when they are so reluctant to apply the same criteria to other applicants?

Well done the cooncil for getting their priorities right again, getting some wee hairdressing fella to take down a sign that was put up 10 years ago, thats 10 years of damage and destruction to bootiful Embra...

Wonder if they will tell Mountgrange to pull down Caltongate after 10 years as it contravenes the local planning laws, and if they could just rebuild those nice listed buildings at the same time please....
