EDINBURGH Castle is to give visitors free admission next month after announcing the dates for its annual Free Weekend.
Historic Scotland will open the doors of the attraction free over the weekend of April 12 to 13, alongside 70 of its other properties across the country.

The Free Weekend initiative has been running for more than a decade and has attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors to some of Historic Scotland's properties.

Last year the organisation said more than 25,000 people had visited Edinburgh Castle as part of the event.
