EDINBURGH Castle is to be transformed into a giant cinema screen this week to celebrate 25 years of Channel 4 and its independent movie-making arm.
A specially produced Film4 promotional trailer will be projected on to the side of the building tomorrow and on Saturday to showcase highlights of Film4 over the past 25 years.

Katie Hayes, of Channel 4, said: "We're thrilled we can celebrate with a landmark as grand as Edinburgh Castle."

On four consecutive Thursdays, beginning next week, Film4 will screen two celebrated films free each night at the Dominion, Newbattle Terrace, with seats allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Films being shown include The Last King of Scotland, This is England, Sexy Beast and East is East.

Lots of European Cities have outdoor cinemas in the summer. The problem with the castle is that theres no "arena" for people to watch it without getting knocked down or a sore kneck.

Must be somewhere in edinburgh this could be done though. Botanics ? Calton Hill?
