THIS year's Edinburgh jogscotland 5k Challenge will take place in the Royal Botanic Garden, it has been confirmed.
The jogging network has five summer challenges, with the aim of getting 5000 Scots off the couch to run a combined 25 million metres.
Last year's 5k Challenge series saw 4200 people enter, with two in five participants taking part in their first 5k.
The 2008 series – in partnership with Scottish Co-operative – takes place in the Capital, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness and the Borders. Alistair Currie, manager of jogscotland, said: "With obesity in Scotland being such a serious issue we all have to do our bit to try and improve the nation's health."
John McNeill, the Scottish Co-operative's chief officer, added: "As The Scottish Co-operative leads the way in promoting healthy choices, it is really appropriate that once again, we are sponsoring the jogscotland 5k challenges which will get people out in the fresh air, getting fit."
The Edinburgh event will be held on Wednesday June 25 . For information visit
