Victim left in hospital after hit-and-run city incident
A MAN was rushed to hospital following a hit-and-run incident in the early hours of this morning.
The 19-year-old was hit by the vehicle on Calder Road, near to the Sighthill Fire Station at around 12.30am, on the westbound side of the road.
Although not seriously injured, he was kept in overnight at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment to facial cuts and bruises.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or recognises the description of the car involved.
The victim described it as being possibly black or dark blue in colour, and may have a damaged bumper.
Police are also particularly keen to trace anyone who was in a white van, which stopped at the scene, and may have seen the car involved in the collision.
The road was closed for about an hour while accident investigations were carried out.
A police spokeswoman said: "This incident could have had far more serious consequences."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131.
