A NEW series of preventative health initiatives for pets has been launched by a Lothians vet.
Haddington-based Links Vet Group has introduced programmes to treat the early signs of allergic skin disease, spot genetic risks of blindness and treat arthritis.

It has also drawn up programmes to treat overweight and elderly pets.

Glen Watson of the Links Vet Group said: "We treat a lot of animals in the later stages of illness at the practice and most of these problems can be prevented if owners are more aware of the common illnesses and disease associated with their pets so they can then take preventative measures."
