A TEENAGER was smashed over the head with a bottle after an argument at a petrol station.
The 18-year-old had just bought cigarettes from the BP garage on Blackburn Road, Bathgate, at around 2am on Friday when a man started arguing with him.

A short time later the two clashed again near the Tesco supermarket, and the teenager was hit over the head before his attacker ran off.

The victim got help from staff at the superstore before being taken to St John's Hospital in Livingston with what was described by police as a "serious" injury.

Officers investigating the incident said the culprit was white, about 24 years old, had brown hair, a skinny build and was wearing a white T-shirt with black writing and blue jeans.

Witnesses were asked to contact Bathgate police station.
