Hit-and-run student pleads guilty

A STUDENT has pleaded guilty to manslaughter following the death of a young Edinburgh woman in a New York hit-and-run.
Julia Thomson, 24, from Morningside, was living in the city when she was struck by a car as she made her way home from a night out with friends in September last year.

Tenzing Bhutia has been told he will serve two years in prison when he is sentenced on June 9 in Manhattan's state Supreme Court.

Bhutia admitted he had been drinking when he struck the former Newcastle University student with his father's car.

The 21-year-old also admitted he knew he had hit something but kept driving.

Prosecutors say Bhutia's blood alcohol level was only a fraction over legal limit.

This guy should be doing a DECADE in prison with NO 'Good Time', NO Early Parole, and if possible, set at Hard Labor.

Her family will not see her, not be able to celebrate her birthdays, go to her wedding, bounce her children on their knees; they've lost ALL of that for this life time.

2 years just doesn't cut it.

Wonder if Daddy has some influence somewhere.
