A SERIES of advertising banners promoting everything from major international rugby matches to the benefits of the local car park are set to go up at Edinburgh Airport.
Bosses at BAA, who run the Capital's airport, have applied for planning permission to put up 11 of the hanging banners, which are three metres high and would be attached to lamp-posts around the main terminal building.

The banners would be used for "a variety of marketing and promotional purposes", with events such as international rugby matches at Murrayfield and the Edinburgh International Festival given as two examples.

The plans indicate that the banners also may be used to remind people about the benefits of the airport's multi-storey car park.

A spokesman said that BAA also was exploring ways to use the banners to promote the 2009 Homecoming Scotland event, a country-wide programme of more than 100 events encouraging Scots living abroad and people who love Scotland to "come home" for a visit.

Wow, advertising banners. Just what the world needs more of. That, and annoying ringtones.

Something else for Eddie Price to do in his retirement--supply bells for the top of the flagpoles. He could get them from Fraser Milne!!

#1 Agreed. Start concentrating on customer service at the airport and organisation before any of these gimmicks. HOPELESS!
