FORMER Rab C Nesbitt star Iain McColl is to take refuge in an East Lothian Abbey.
The actor, who has battled drink and drug problems, will attend the Sancta Maria Abbey near Haddington.

McColl turned to Christianity when in jail in 1999. Today he was quoted saying: "I would like to expand the spiritual side of my life. I'm sure joining the monks would allow me to do that.

"The monks' abbey is a hospital for sick souls, a rock of salvation for desperate ones. I'm walking the boulevard of broken dreams."
