A GROUP that provides support for drug users has been awarded a £25,000 prize.
Crew 2000, based in Cockburn Street, has been recognised for its work in education and support by the GlaxoSmithKline Impact Award.

The annual awards, run in association with independent health charity the King's Fund, are in their 11th year and recognise and reward the work of small to medium sized charities that improve health in their communities.

Crew 2000 is one of ten charities that beat more than 400 entrants from across the UK, and its work will be formally recognised at a ceremony in London's National Gallery on April 29.

An overall winner will be announced for an extra £10,000 award.

The organisation was established in 1992 in response to the dance drug phenomenon that grew out of the rave scene.
