DOCTOR Who writer Russell T Davies said he would like to see Catherine Zeta Jones or Lesley Sharp play a female Doctor.
Davies also confirmed that the Doctor would be without a permanent companion next year, as he was asked about speculation over who might take over from Bathgate-born David Tennant when he leaves the show next year.

Speaking at a press screening in London of the Christmas special of the show, called The Next Doctor, he said replacing the Doctor could take a while.

He said: "It's a lot of soul-searching to do."

Tennant was today named 27th in a list of the 100 Coolest British Men of the Year by Zoo magazine.

David Tennant 27th on the list of coolest British Men???! I think not!!

He's number one and no doubt about it!

Oh yes, and as for the female doctor nonsense - no thank you - it's not a woman's part, never has been, never will be. And Catherine Zeta Jones??? Get a grip. As much as I like Russell T Davies for re-inventing Doctor Who he is such a "lovey" at times who's head is so far up his bahookie he can only talk s**t!

Three cheers for Russel T. Davies! It's about time the Doctor regenerated as a female...or at the very least someone other than yet another white male. Shake up the bigots!

I would also have no objections to the black actor who played the Marquis de Carabas in Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere. Someone else suggested the Bollywood actor Shah Rhuk Khan, though I suspect the BBC wouldn't be crazy about someone who speaks English in an Indian rather than a British accent.

According to Buddhism, you can be reincarnated as male or female, and any kind of creature. While I don't want to see the Doctor come back as a corgi, seeing a female or nonwhite Doctor would be a refreshing change.
