Shock warning over cost of diabetes
TEN people a week have a limb amputated as a result of diabetes in Scotland, a charity warned yesterday.
Obesity link to rise in diabetes
MORE than four million Britons will have diabetes by 2025, mostly fuelled by the obesity crisis, figures showed yesterday. Unhealthy diets and a lack of exercise will lead to a "diabetes explosion", according to the charity Diabetes UK.
Poor families twice as likely to get diabetes than the well-off
PEOPLE living in deprived parts of Edinburgh are almost twice as likely to get diabetes as those living in more affluent areas.
