THREE men were each sentenced to six years in jail yesterday for soliciting murder during a demonstration against an anti-Islamic cartoon.
Mizanur Rahman, 24, Umran Javed, 27, and Abdul Muhid, 25, were convicted during separate Old Bailey trials.

Judge Brian Barker, the Common Serjeant of London, said that their words had been designed to encourage murder and terrorism.

Abdul Saleem, 32, was cleared of soliciting murder at his trial, but convicted of inciting race hate. He was jailed for four years.

They were arrested after 300 protesters marched to the Danish embassy in central London in February last year.

The police made video recordings of speeches and slogans during the demonstration against a controversial cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad, which was first published in Denmark.

Rahman called for soldiers to be brought back from Iraq in body-bags. Muhid led a crowd in chanting "Bomb, bomb the UK".

Taunt them with more cartoons through the cell bars until their heads explode. No wait, I'm against capital punishment so make that until just before their heads explode.

"Rahman called for soldiers to be brought back from Iraq in body-bags. Muhid led a crowd in chanting "Bomb, bomb the UK"".
What a pity they could not serve their jail time in a military prison for "special treatment".

To be fair, the cartoons were interpreted as making a fool of the prophet Mohammed.
How would we feel of it was us? How would we feel if cartoons were depicted showing internet posters, or Scotsman readers, in a bad light? How would we feel if it was cartoons that we interpreted as showing Tony Blair in a bad light? MMMmmm!
The cartoons were insulting to Islam.
They were published in a Western country. Western countries are insulting to Islam.
The story was broadcast around the world. Broadcasting and publishing is western technology. Western Technology is insulting to Islam.
This is August 2007. That means it is generally (although not strictly accurately) 2007 years from the birth of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is insulting to Islam.
The world is insulting to Islam.
It was raining yesterday. Raining is insulting to Islam.
Motor cars are insulting to Islam – that is why the blow them up.
I am a male white person. White people are insulting to Islam.
Today the sky is grey. The sky is grey is insulting to Islam.
Insulting to Islam is insulting to Islam.
I didn’t realise that Islam and its followers were so insecure.

Why aren't they being deported when they've finished their sentences?

They're born and bred here! They're British! Where would we deport then to? Guantanamo Bay?
Furthermore, deporting them is insulting to Islam!

UMmm I dont know how many people read middle eastern papers and the like, but if you have seen some of the cartoons the Muslims put out about Israel the US the UK and other places, the one with Mohammed with a bomb in his turbin is very very very mild compared to them.

Some one very close to me in my family works at Paisley RAH and was caught up in the Glasgow Airport Terrorist attacks.
Before he was later transferred to the Glasgow Royal Burns Unit, I am reliably assured that ‘the victim’ was constantly given minimum painkillers and anaesthetic, and that Christian nurses came and regularly sang Christian hymns to him. One of them even brought in Christian music to play on a CD.
That was DEFINETLY insulting to Islam!
Poor soul – right now I bet his ears are burning!

Try Al hawadeth or its english version Monday morning. Interesting read and is pretty middle of the road, to my knowledge it has not been banned in any country so far due to its impartial reporting.

Hang on go to my favourites will post a link.

#4 Strict Ivan. LOL if it weren't so close to the truth. Truth is also insulting to Islam. I hope #14 is true too.

I really am not sure about this burqa thing, after all how easy would it be for a stealth ninja to mingle with the crowd?

That, or I think the one holding the 'British Police go to Hell' sign has W's eyes. He's in deep cover.

All joking aside, hiding your face is out of order and wrong, If you wish to make a political statement in a democratic country say who you are and show who you are. If you do not wish your identity to be known because you feel you have something to hide you have no business demonstrating or holding the belief that your opinions matter to the political process within the country you reside.

Stefan,

#22 I'm in violent agreement with you. As I think you and I have chatted about before... Where are the protests against the hate mongers in their ranks? They've obviously the time to protest.

I've yet to see a demonstration against the terror being perpetuated in the name of their religion. The way our peace protesters demonstrate against the war, (without calling for the blood of the neo con's), because they want the world to know not all American's are for war.

twowheel loon,

#23 careful, I have posted honest opinions and will continue to do so. I can also be the worst devils advocate imaginable if I feel that is the way to make my point. Please do not violently agree with me as as far as I am concerned violence is the absolute last resort. Ie survival. If I have to cut back and make changes I have no problem with that. If on the other hand anothers religon belief, dogma threatens the lives of me and mine that is another matter.

At the moment I am reading considering and with holding any judgement on the present state of affairs.

It does not look good though, going to be tears before bedtime and it's going to go on for a long time.
