New leader but same old guard
RAUL CASTRO, Cuba's first new president, has crushed hopes that a new generation might begin shaping the country's future by shunning younger candidates for top jobs.
Instead he has appointed Jose Ramon Machado, 77, for the government's No. 2 spot and promised to defer to his ailing brother Fidel on every major matter.
