SENIOR Tory MPs used their taxpayer-funded expenses to pay for maintenance of swimming pools and gardening on their country estates.
And former Agriculture Minister Douglas Hogg even claimed over £2000 for clearing his moat, according to the latest revelations in the Daily Telegraph.
Former Edinburgh South Tory MP Michael Ancram claimed £98.58 for the repair of a swimming pool boiler, as well as £1117.43 for gardening at his country house in Wiltshire. He also claimed for Aga servicing.
Sir Michael Spicer, chairman of the powerful Tory backbench 1922 Committee, also spent £5650 of taxpayers' money having his garden maintained.
