TRIPLE Olympic medal hero Sir Chris Hoy urged a new generation of university graduates to follow their "crazy dreams" as he received an honorary degree.
The Edinburgh-born cyclist, who won three gold medals at the Beijing Games, made the comments at a ceremony at St Andrews University.
He said: "No matter how crazy the dream is, don't let people put you down or make you think it's not possible – because it is.
"If you work hard enough, anything is."
During the ceremony a choir sang a personalised song which featured the line "you pedal for a medal".
Sir Chris, who was made an honorary doctor of science, studied at St Andrews, but completed his degree at Edinburgh.
Professor Peter McKiernan described him as "a gifted global ambassador for sport, a natural Olympian in behaviour and deed and an iconic talisman for his international team colleagues".
Sir Chris is a record four-times Olympic champion and nine-times world champion.
