Stars make a heroic effort
SUPERSTARS from the world of film, music, fashion and sport paid homage to the superheroes who frequently come to the rescue of the world.
Stars such as David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss and Tilda Swinton attended the fashion show on Monday night at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, where the costumes of the superheroes were celebrated.
Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and current hero-of-the-hour Iron Man have been employed by the Costume Institute to illustrate the parallel worlds occupied by the superheroes and creative fashion designers.
"Superheroes are about issues of the body, identity and transformation, about acting your fantasies and transforming yourself into anyone or anything you want to be," said Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute's curator. "Those are all the things at the heart of fashion."
