SARAH Brown, the wife of the Prime Minister, has used her influence to promote an internet campaign to free Burma's pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
The campaign is being conducted over the social networking site Twitter and, thanks to Mrs Brown's intervention, has already attracted support of thousands of people including celebrities Jimmy Carr, Kevin Spacey, Eddie Izzard, Yoko Ono, Salman Rushd
ie and George Clooney.

Mrs Brown, who is shy about being in the public spotlight but is a keen "tweeter", has joined the campaign to help Ms Suu Kyi and mark her 64th birthday on 19 June.

The pro-democracy leader has been under house arrest for 13 years and is now being put through a show trial by the military junta running the country.

Among the supporters is Mrs Brown's husband, who wrote: "I add my voice to the growing chorus of those demanding your release.

"For too long the world has failed to act in the face of this intolerable injustice."

The campaign website that Mrs Brown has got involved with is www.64forsuu.org.

People can twitter messages of support by including "#assk64" in their tweet. It then is automatically sent to the campaign website. People are asked to do it in 64 words.

Mrs Brown has a Twitter feed at www.twitter.com/sarahbrown10 – and she has been tweeting at celebrities to get them involved and re-tweet the campaign details.

You sleep if you want to, the rest of us cant, had there been oil in Burma, this junta would have been removed long before now. All this would have been possible by our dear friends across the pond "Charlie's Indians" whose record is there for all to see.

i looked at the headline and that this was the nearest thing to a pro labour story mad dog could manage.
checked the writer and lo and behold i was correct.
still no story on david marshall, almost 12 months and counting, but a story on cyclops' wife supporting a burmese freedom fighter is a priority? pathetic.
get some reality, although this labour press release was easy to write up straight off the fax.
burma has no oil, as jeeemy said. it does make a difference, and the fact china looks after them.

How nice and touchy-feely. Maybe some of this could rub off onto Gorgo, but OK, maybe not - pass the sick bucket.

There's also a campaign far closer to home called "make my vote count" Don't see Sarah or Gordon's signature on that . www.makemyvotecount.org.uk/ -

"SARAH Brown, the wife of the Prime Minister, has used her influence ...to free Burma's pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi."

With the Brown's in support that has to be the end now for poor Mrs Suu Kyi. Everything Brown touches ends in disaster.

Brown is clearly desperate for 'positive spin' stories in the midst of the Westminster expense sleaze expose and the worsening UKofGB&NI economic crisis.

Scotland needs rid of these BritNat political careerist posers.

"LOOK Sarah, your the only person left who's associated with LABOUR and not detested by the public,
you have to do it, DAM IT !!!!!!".

"But Gordon, I don't even know where Burma is, or this sushi woman, I don't want to make a fool of myself like the rest of you?".

"But Sarah dear, there are expenses to be claimed here. They could run into 6 figures if you play your cards right."

Expenses you say.... pass me that platinum laptop".

"That's ma girl "

Actually there is oil in Burma. Not on the scale of other nations but there is oil all the same. I was part of shareholders action group to get a certain Brit Oil Exploration Company out of Burma!

It suits the present players to keep the Generals in power just as it suits the players in the international child flesh markets to keep them in power as well.

But as a government ours is in no moral position to dictate to any other corrupt govt what to do! Now is it?

Could Comrade Sarah not use her 'considerable influence' and tell Comrade Gordon that the time to go has come??
Even she must see he's the worst PM in living memory.
