FORMER MSP Brian Monteith today called for a new non-party campaign to "reverse the tide of nationalism" ahead of any referendum on independence.
The ex-Tory and Evening News columnist claimed many celebrities and business leaders supported the union, but would not want to get dragged into the "murky world" of party politics.

And he said internal turmoil was currently hampering efforts by the opposition parties to mount an effective challenge to Alex Salmond's SNP government.

He said: "Salmond is hardly even breaking a sweat into his first term and at the moment. The unionists must bury their partisan difficulties and garner support by building a robust cross-party and non-party campaign to reverse the tide of nationalism."

Writing on the website ThinkScotland, he argued there needed to be a new campaign group to "bang the drum loudly for the benefits of the union".

Would he list "the benefits of the union" for those of us who still doubt that they exist from the Scottish side.

Independence for Scotland is not a party political issue but the same right as all the other 200 plus members of the United Nations enjoy.

Why is he a former MSP?
Why is he a former Evening News columnist?
Why is he an ex-Tory?

Is there anything that is current about Brian Monteith?

Now here a possibility, maybe this guy is bored. So he now feels the need to walk about banging on a drum, loudly (Is there a reason to do it loudly??). What next marching with.... (sound oddly firmiure)

Or Posting min Union Jacks through everyone's letter box (Ah more junk mail)

Amazing How this Brian guy is the person who as mostly commented on their forums. Hey he's even an adverse!!! Looks younger than he sounds in this article.

This thinkScotland thing claims to be "ThinkScotland is not aligned to any political party and welcomes diverse contributions and debate". I don't know I'll need to fufer investigate it before I could agree or disagree with their claim.

I Think ThinkScotland should be changed to thinktoryScotlandplease!!!!
Most of their 17 adivours are or where members of the Consertive party.

It's increadbly laim and another organsation which which stupiely writes on a grey background with black writting on their forum.

I really don't see how this statment can have much truth in it: "ThinkScotland is not aligned to any political party and welcomes diverse contributions and debate".

'The ex-Tory and Evening News columnist claimed many celebrities and business leaders supported the union, but would not want to get dragged into the "murky world" of party politics.'

Are we still on the same planet here, as before the May elections last year the same old faces were dragged on to do their unionist best to show where they made their money.

As the former pied piper of everything union goes marching by, he should most certainly bang the drum loudly.

It will be only thing sufficient to drown out the laughter.
