EDINBURGH'S unbeaten supermiddleweight Kenny Anderson is upbeat about going head-to-head with Welshman Nathan King at Birmingham's Aston Villa Sports Centre on July 19 in a bout rescheduled from the postponed June 14 Glasgow SECC show.
"I'm delighted to just be getting back in the ring again after my last fight in April in Glasgow," Anderson said. "Fighting in Birmingham won't bother me as my early fights were in places like Manchester and Cardiff so I'm really pleased to be boxi
ng (there]."
Anderson has also been told by his management team that if he beats King he will be put on another show at Paisley towards the end of July.
Confirming the Birmingham July date Anderson's ring coach Billy Nelson said: Kenny has looked really outstandingly sharp in training and I can guarantee that he will be in top form when the first bell goes in Birmingham against Nathan King.''
Nelson also confirmed that two Gilmerton boxers, featherweight Jason Hastie and welterweight Gary Young, could join Anderson on the Paisley show.
Meanwhile, Gilmerton amateur boxing club boss Rab Young has hailed the achievement of his 17-year-old light-flyweight prospect Josh Taylor, who recently won a European Bronze medal in a multi-nations championship event in Russia.
Said Young: "Josh has been rewarded for his outstanding performance in Russia by also being selected for the Scottish youth squad who will compete later this month at Portobello Town Hall."
