LORD of the Rings actor Billy Boyd has visited the Capital for the premiere of animation film The Incredibles.
The Glasgow-born actor, who played hobbit Pippin Took in the blockbuster adaptations of JRR Tolkien’s novels, appeared at the event at UGC cinema in Fountainpark to raise cash for a children’s hospital.

The Incredibles, which has just celebrated a huge opening weekend in the US, breaking all previous box office records for a Pixar film, follows a family of retired superheroes who are called back into action.

The film is tipped to be a big hit when it opens in the UK on November 26.

Money raised from last night’s event will help to fund the Yorkhill Children’s Hospital "Medi-cinema".

The fundraising target for the project is approximately £300,000, which will be used to transform a lecture theatre at the hospital into a state-of-the-art cinema.
