ST ANDREW Square is to become a focus for poetry in the Capital as part of new initiatives put forward by the city council.
Three schemes have been approved following a series of meetings involving the Scottish Poetry Library, Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature Trust, Edinburgh City Centre Management Company, Coffee Republic, and other bodies.

Napkins printed with lines of poetry, supported with additional text, will be projected on the wall of the Coffee Republic kiosk based in St Andrew Square, starting next month.

There will also be a celebration of poetry as part of the formal opening ceremony of the St Andrew Square Garden this summer. Finally community literacy groups will be invited to take part in National Poetry Day, on October 10.
