POLICE and council chiefs have signed a new agreement to allow information about antisocial residents to be exchanged more easily.
Officials from East Lothian Council will now be able to share details with the Lothian and Borders force without compromising the legal right of offenders.

The joint protocol will also allow the council to quickly identify troublemakers in the community.

Alex McCrorie, the council's acting chief executive, said both sides could now be more confident in the "strength and veracity" of their evidence.

Kenneth Black, the council's antisocial behaviour co-ordinator, added: "The agreement cements the relationship between the two organisations, and it shows that a united approach to effectively tackling this type of corrosive behaviour is now being fully adopted."
