THOSE anticipating a fresh outbreak of hostilities between Michael Gomez and Alex Arthur yesterday were disappointed when the latter failed to attend a media conference in Glasgow to promote the Sports Network bill earmarked for Bellahouston Leisure Centre on 27 March.
A spokesman for the promoter said complications prevented Arthur from travelling from his home in Edinburgh. Arthur will make his debut at lightweight against an as-yet-unnamed opponent on the undercard of Ricky Burns' Commonwealth title defence against Gomez.

Gomez, who stopped Arthur in five rounds in October 2003, interrupted the announcement that the Scot had been detained elsewhere with the sarcastic comment: "Surprise, surprise."

Gomez said another fight with Arthur will eventually take place, but added: "Right now all I am concerned about is beating Ricky Burns."
