PRINCESS Anne has officially opened a groundbreaking new drug and alcohol project in the Capital.
LEAP, the Lothians and Edinburgh Abstinence Programme, is the first of its kind in Scotland and helps users "get clean and stay clean". The Princess Royal was given a tour of the facilities at Malta Terrace, Stockbridge, yesterday, and heard the firs
t-hand experiences of patients and staff.

The programme, a pilot between NHS Lothian and drug and alcohol action teams in the region, has been running since last September.

David McCartney, clinical lead at LEAP, said the visit was a "great honour" and everybody had been delighted to meet a member of the Royal Family

He added: "She joined a group therapy session with patients, allowing her to hear about their lives before coming to LEAP, and also how the programme is helping them on the road to recovery."

Lee McNair, one of the programme's latest success stories, said: "The Princess Royal was really interested to hear about our lives, what led us to take drugs, how difficult the programme has been and how we are coping since graduating.

"I was really pleased to present her with a posy of flowers. It's been a very exciting day."

Who in the name of God is Jennie Bond and why is she relevant to this newsitem?

Is she that royal reporter that I see on CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) commenting on matters royal?

Kudos to The Princess Royal for taking on YET ANOTHER charity. Boy, is HRH's calendar filled nearly every day.

You just have to go the The Court Circular at The Times to see how many engagements she fulfills in a year and the number of trips she takes to foreign lands in support of her many charities - especially Save The Children.

Although she has the personality of a cornered snake HRH's good works ALMOST obviates her rudeness and coldness and bloody-mindedness.

Hi there Timothy. In spite of your opening question, you knew who Jennie bond was all along, you closet Royalist you.
I agree that HRH's irascibility is largely offset by her worthwhile contributions.
Would that the same could be said of you, Timothy Charles.

How dare you presume to say such to me!

For your information, you ignoramus, a "Royalist" is a member of a faction that supported Charles the First during the Civil War in the 17th century in England whilst the modern and more precise term for a supporter of the royal family is a "monarchist".

Your ignorance and cheek is only surpassed by your haughty demeanour. You have NOTHING to be haughty about.
