KEN PEPLOWSKI & JESPER THILO

Happy Together: Live At Birdland Volume 1

***

Nagel Heyer CD097, £12.99
Tenor saxophonist and clarinettist Ken Peplowski can always be relied on for an exciting, energetic live performance, and this new CD – recorded at a concert in Hamburg in 2002 – is no exception. Co-leading a German band with the Danish tenor man Jesper Thilo, Peplowski favours clarinet on this session, and dazzles with his acrobatic playing on 'I Want To Be Happy' and his seductive balladeering on 'Polka Dots And Moonbeams'.
