Angus Ogg,

Anne Begg is one of the few decent MP's from the Labour Party.

Please protect her from this nightmare of a LibDem politician.

She's in no danger from him, for the SNP will put up someone pure dead brill.

#1 Not so sure about that.

The Liberals already have a candidate in Aberdeen South! Perhaps Martin Ford should stand in the area in which he was a councillor - how many votes would he get I wonder...

Incidentally, the twit is standing for the Rector of Aberdeen University. He won't win thankfully.

Sorry Angus but these days "decent MP" and "Labour Party" cannot be used in the same sentence!

She is an ultra-Brownie and deserves to be turfed out by the SNP!

Let's vote tactically and boot out every one of New Labour Sleaze and Corruption's self centred, incompetent and corrupt MP's and MEP's.

Time for change
Time to rid Scotland of these low life's.

Why has the current Lib Dem candidate resigned?

Nothing to do with him being against the Aberdeen bypass while at the same time working for a Lib Dem MSP who is supposedly in favour of it?

I'm sure he would pick up the green vote. I cannot imagine the Greens would put in a candidate if he stood. As for being a Liberal Democrat, he is neither liberal nor democratic. He doesn't listen to the wishes of his current local authority constituents nor represent their concerns which does not bode well for the electorate in South Aberdeen. The Libdems in Aberdeenshire tried to dump him in the council. He is so out of kilter with Libdem opinion I cannot imagine he will be selected.

Anne Begg yesterday signed a Commons motion forcing Scotland's World Cup qualifying matches to be classed as 'A list', and therefore getting them on Free to Air TV. In spite of Brown's 'Britishness' spin, she clearly understands and fights for relevant Scottish issues. As Angus Ogg said, she is one of the few decent Labour MPs and she should definitely be supported to fight this PR-backed imposter.

Anyway, how could the Libs support his nomination after his attitude toward his fellow ruling group on the council?

The people who held Ford in high regard must now feel a little uneasy now that their man has shown himself to be no more than a small time politician hooked on the limelight. First the Rectorship: then the demand to have his say at the enquiry, now a desire to run for Parliament.

This is no 'village Hampden' or champion of local democracy; simply a trumped up single issue fanatic after his fifteen minutes of fame, as venal as the rest of us.

Your assessment reminds me of Smart Alex a few years ago. A taste of National Government's wheeling and dealing is just what is required to put some spine into a great statesman! (Or a self-centred, smug, politician, who does deals clandestinely). Your "Trumped up single issue" hits the nail squarely on the head. Particularly the "Trumped" bit. Bring it on Mr Ford, Scotland needs some truly 'honourable' MPs in our National Parliament!

Sadly, I think you are very wrong about Mr Ford. He is no more than an old-fashioned, 1960's type environmental campaigner, peddling old nostrums of calvinistic sacrifice. His day has gone as witnessed by the outcry against him. His tragedy is that he does not know it.

As long as he slavishly courts the limelight, having acquired a taste for it, the 'Green' cause will not be well served. Mr Trump is lucky in his enemies and he knows it. It is now he who is saying, 'Bring it on'.
