Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't it a good thing that the council tax payer and the tax payer is going to save money by more efficient working in the public sector?

Anyway back to the question of where good old child eater marilyne is going to get some money to fund our schools (not that she is too bothered - she sends her kids go to private school). It has been recently mentioned on the news that councils are perhaps spending too much on translations and translators. I believe Edinburgh Council should have wee look at this area with a view to spending a bit less. Well we can't take any money from the sacred tram budget can we.

kids do get a hot meal on fridays, as of jan 11th 2008 this will stop.if this isnt true then why are kitchen staffs hours being cut. in some kitchens, staff have been told they are only required to work 1 hour on a friday.they have also been told that if they do not accept the new hours they will be sacked and re- employed with the new hours.many staff have received letters confirming this. also the suggestion that the packed lunches are of equal nutritional value to the hot lunches is a joke.how can a sandwich a drink a packet of crisps and a cake be the same as a hot meal.

She's always been a crap councillor with many people I know having dealings with her. The fact that she comes across as arrogant sometimes as well doesn't help.

And why can't the parents or guardians of these children give them a hot meal on a Friday if it is so important?

They chose to bring the kids into this world, so let them look after them properly instead of relying on the local authority all the time.

It's a school. It's primary function is to teach kids; not to feed them hot meals.

They should be grateful that they can get any kind of food at all from the school on a Friday, since they finish at lunchtime.

Council Officials seem to be making a cult of things now that Labour cooncillors aren't telling them what to do.

Anyway, the story shows that the Council is being run by the officials now the SNP and Lib Dems are in charge. That's the real scandal. The SNP and Lib Dems can't govern. They don't know how to. All they can do is get their photies took.

One other thing - how was the photo illustrating this story arranged? If I was one of these kids I would not eat food that a scrofulous press photographer took in that way - I'd be eating dandruff and brylcreem. Yuk.
