Do they mean we shall have ten times as many false alarms? 54 years without a similar disaster and a false alarm triggers a claim for a 10 fold increase in 93 years time. I suppose it is like the now abandoned specious claims of the Gulf Stream failing, as we were told, "possibly within 5 to 10 years" by another group of self proclaimed "world class" scientists.

Does this mean a lot of English people might want to come North to Scotland to live because our weather will be milder than England's torrent-lashed countryside and shoreline?

Scientists are no better at forecasting that astrologers, William Hill or that wee mannie up in Braemar. Purely by statistics, the longer we collect record the more extremes will appear in the data.

We had a hurricane just off the New England coast about a week ago. It veered off into the Atlantic going North East. Bet that was what caused the UK storms.

Perhaps the Met Office should pay more attention to the weather in the US North East to predict storms in the UK.

Your so right, Chuckie. We now get these anti-cyclones coming from the West all the time now. I don't know when it started happening. BTW, I've noticed that the leaves on our trees started turning yellow and falling off the trees recently - this is worrying. Has anything like that happened in Rhode Island. I hope it is not a global trend!

I agree no 7, i have noticed this before. whatever America gets we get tail end or more a few days later, especially with snow.
