ONE of the bidders for the flagship Edinburgh to London rail route has today vowed to nearly halve the number of trains running late on the East Coast mainline. ...By nearly halving the number of trains ?
Complete rubbish...remember that claim for future, should the bus company win the "competition".The franchise should, however "they" wish to assess these bids, go back to GNER...the people that know how to run trains. Would somebody in the know, for the avoidance of doubt, please post the last year's reasons for delay (% will do)...failed or slow-moving freight in front (not GNER), points failure (not GNER), overheads problem (not GNER), fatality on the line (not GNER), speed restrictions (not GNER), horses on the line due to missing fence or left open gate (not GNER) etc etc...come on what's a bus company got up its big sleeve to get round that lot, smelling of roses?? Complete Tosh, hype and spin...must have an ex politician at the helm.Yesterday...KX-York, non-stop in 1hr 41 mins...fantastic, a spirited run, without a jolt, through countryside that I could appreciate even at 120mph average...great suspension I guess on the Mallards.

Be better to pledge to cut the fares to the level where it is economic to travel by train. Also get rid of the insanely complicated ticketing system where you have to jump through hoops to get a reasonably priced ticket.
