Stranraer - no a bad wee toon, but a casino?
Might improve the road network, but doubt it.
Take from the poor, give to the (very) rich - New Labour in action in oh so many ways.
What did they do to deserve this?
Clever - a well done piece and an interesting choice. Sit back and watch the Ulster Folk flock to the tables using cheap day ferry returns.
But not on a Sunday of course - at least till after Mass.
Not a bad idea. Monaco does not allow the major percentage of its inhabitants to visit the casino. Just rely on the daft Irish gambling fraternity. No insults intended but there as many daft Irish gamblers as Scots. The advantage disappears when everyone has a chance to dump their unwanted assets down this sewer.
Glasgow should go for a world-classsuper brothel - a brothel being lessdepraved than a casino.
4 Edinburgh has got plenty of them .Think Glasgow has had a lucky escape ,Theres that much happening in Glasgow right now anyway , Blackpool on the other hand Put all its eggs in one basket,
The extention to its Park n Ride underground system .Regeneration Of the Financial area .3 times size of Edinburghs,To name but a few,Edinburgh has lots common with Blackpool ,Salt n sauce sleazy saunas Blackpool Rock -Edinburgh rock ,Pound shops etc, .mmm.And im from Edinburgh Oh and the Shops in Glasgow .I shop in Glasgow all the time especially At xmas ,Fantastic dynamic buzz in the place.
No, no, Eric, not all this rubbish about Glasgow again! I really like your "financial area .3 times size of Edinburgh" - that's pretty small then! I'm sure it was a slip of your keyboard but, hey, in all that excitement about "happening" Glasgow it's only to be expected. Do you live in Tranent or something?
Got an Underground to catch .Must rush .
Bizarre choice, it might work for the locals.......Moving the ferry terminal 8 miles away to Cairnryan is not only anti-green (the rail station is on the present pier) but puts paid to the "day trip from Belfast" brigade if they have to be bussed or hitch-hike to the Casino.
The BBC's 6 o'clock news managed to put the casino in Dumfries, on the map. Still, about par for the course...
If Stranraer is to be Scotland's Monaco when can we expect it to host the first Scottish Formula One Grand Prix ?
A bad move made possible by a Government that hates all things decent.
Michael # 8 that eric dude wishes he lived in tranent, he claims to be from the lothians but methinks he's another bitter weedge in disguise.
eric, glasgow's financial district 3 times that of The Capitals............ since 99% of the major finanacial institutions are based in Edinburgh maybe your financial district could open up another calll centre office eh ?
Size is a big issue to you eric, r u small down below or summit? Take care on the underground its a very scary place !
Looking forward to the re-possessing & auctions of homes later this year in Stranraer when the locals get into debt. It's a terrible call in an area that needs jobs but doesn't have much to fail back on.
I am fed up of people saying that having a casino will increase the numbers of people with gambling problems.Gambling is available seven days a week from bookies, 11-11 in pubs and clubs and 24hrs round on the web - opening another casino is a drop in the oceanAll that the Stranraer casino and the super-casino will do is to divert gambling form different areas...
DMK
Do you think that the casino won't have a free bus from the ferry for the Irish punters??
#10, Oooh, Eric, you're like so big city! Hope you manage to get to the platform through the sea of litter.
And by the way, don't you know full stops come at the end of sentences, not the start.
Bill 1 has mentioned the bigest problem the town has ROADS there is no good way to the place.!
